“Fireside chat” to reveal technology’s power to increase supply chain resilience
Supply chains are under pressure not just from the high-level risk of ongoing geopolitical instability, but from the consistent threat of identity fraud, cargo theft and non-compliance within supply chain networks themselves. As part of Multimodal 2025, TEG’s Lyall Cresswell and Sam Wilkinson will unpack why the future of supply chain security owes as much to technology as it does to trust.
Their fireside chat, on Tuesday 17 June at 10:20 AM in the Birmingham NEC’s Norton Theatre, will delve into what it really takes to secure modern logistics networks… and why most current practices fall short.
“The risks go far deeper than most organisations realise,” says Lyall. “And unless we address them now, the cost to the industry — and to customers — will only grow.”
Why the Supply Chain is More Exposed Than You Think
Lyall and Sam will shine a light on a range of real-world risks, including:
- Carrier non-compliance through invalid licences, expired insurances and missing documentation
- Carrier identity fraud in which unofficial stand-ins pose as legitimate carriers
- Cargo and parcel theft including sophisticated in-transit and warehouse theft
Despite understanding the problem, few 3PLs have the capacity to audit their entire carrier network. Even the best-resourced teams typically perform checks only once a year, leaving extended periods of potential exposure secured only by trust. Knock on effects include (and are not limited to) a restricted pool of carriers with which 3PLs can work.
A New Approach to Trust in Transport
Rather than relying on outdated systems and manual checks, Lyall and Sam will argue for a digital-first, real-time approach to carrier integrity – one that makes security a core part of every transaction.
Their session will include live insights from the front lines of TEG and Trustd, the market’s first digital identity and transport credentials platform.
